Razer Proof Mark System: Building a Global Recognition Framework
I led the four-month development of a Razer-owned proof-mark system for communicating independently verified awards, esports achievements, and sales milestones across global product packaging and digital commerce.
Razer products were using award badges supplied by individual media outlets. The different shapes, colours, and visual styles created clutter across packaging and online creative, while teams had no shared standard for deciding which achievements qualified or how a badge should be applied. The task was not simply to redesign a mark. It was to create a scalable global system for turning product achievements into consistent, recognisable brand proof, including category-leadership claims such as #1 Mouse Brand.
I established the eligibility and prioritisation framework for the system. Qualifying proof points included recognised global awards, esports achievements, and verified sales milestones, with evidence required to substantiate every claim.
The hierarchy balanced external credibility with Razer's brand identity: prestigious global awards came first, followed by esports achievements and then commercial milestones. Product managers selected the most relevant badge for each product within this framework rather than relying on one-off brand-team decisions.
As project lead, I defined the system's purpose, eligibility criteria, message hierarchy, usage rules, governance process, and global rollout plan. I partnered with Design on the visual system, Product Business Units on product-level evidence and selection, and Legal on claim validation.
The work moved from strategy to executive approval in approximately four months. After final CEO approval, the system was introduced across global product packaging, Razer.com, retail, and e-tail banners.
Quantitative
- Four months from initial concept to final approval
- One global system deployed across packaging, web, retail, and e-tail
Qualitative
- Replaced inconsistent third-party marks with a unified Razer-owned proof mark
- Gave product teams an evidence-based framework for making consistent badge decisions
- Improved visual consistency and reduced clutter across product and commerce touchpoints
